When you combine food [trucks] and live music, you have something good! Yesterday, I attended the seasonal Alpharetta Food Truck Alley – which happens everything Thursday from April to October.
Now, let me be the first to say that it was a spur of the moment trip. My sister wanted to go – which was convenient for her because she works in Alpharetta. However, for me it was close to a 2 hour commute when you mix in distance and rush hour/accidents. However, it was worth it once I got there.
There were various food trucks – we visited the Happy Belly Truck, Yumbii, the ATL Burger Truck, King of Pops, and Simply Done Donuts! At Happy Belly Truck we bought the “Brussels for Mussels” and it was surprisingly delish! They were crispy brussel sprouts with a Thai-citrus chili sauce and cilantro.
From the ATL Burger Truck we bought “The Buckhead” – a turkey burger
with tomato jam and goat cheese and arugula. The taste was expected, so nothing spectacular. While munching on the burger and Yumbii’s fries (which we did not care for) , we sat down to listen to the live music. Forgive me for not remembering the singers name, but he was awesome! It was just a guy and his guitar. And there I was, reminded why I love the outdoors, live music, and food. I could literally listen to him sing all day!
I felt at peace and present. In today’s world, everyone lives a busy life and everything is “I have to do this; I have to do that!” But it felt good to not have any worries while I listened to his sweet voice and just absorbed the moment.
Back to the food – we finished “our dinner” with apple pie donuts from Simply Done Donuts – delish! While the donuts were mostly my sister’s dessert, I finished off with a watermelon mojito from King of Pops.
And all was well in Alpharetta land…
